Home Campaigns Characters Maps Lore Archives Account About

Rougarole is a labor of love, kept running on hosting costs and late nights. If the archive has been useful to your table and you'd like to help keep the candles burning, a contribution of any size is deeply appreciated — and never expected.

PurposeWhy this archive exists

Rougarole is meant to serve as an ongoing compendium for your table's chronicle — a single archive where every campaign keeps its own characters, maps, and lore instead of scattering them across notebooks and scratchmarks on the back of character sheets.

The goal is simple: make it easy to build a character, chart a world, and write its history — and to decide exactly who gets to see each piece. Some things belong to you, some to your party, and some shared to the rest of the world. The archive stores all of your correspondence so the story doesn't have to be lost to the effects of time.

The GuideUsing the archive

Make an account

Sign up with an email, username, and password from the Account page. Everything you create is tied to your account, and signing in is what lets the archive show you your own and shared material.

Start or join a campaign

Campaigns are the heart of the archive — each one holds its own characters, maps, and lore. Create one from the Home page; as its Game Master you can generate an invite link and manage members. Open someone's invite link while signed in to join their campaign.

Create a character

From the Characters roster, add a new character and choose how you'll keep their sheet: build it in the in-house character builder, or upload your own PDF if you prefer your personal layout. Pick a campaign and a visibility, and you're in.

Chart maps

Each campaign has an atlas. Upload a map image, then pan, zoom, and drop markers with notes, images, and links that jump between maps. Markers can also point to a lore entry.

Write lore

Keep histories, factions, creatures, and recovered texts in the Lore Books, sorted by category and campaign, each with its own reader view.

SharingWho can see what

Every character, map, and lore entry carries a visibility setting. Only the creator can edit a piece — others see it exactly as you left it.

Private
Only you can see it. Your personal workspace.
Party
Everyone in the same campaign can see it. Shared with your table.
Public
Anyone visiting the site can see it — public characters appear in the Compendium.
